Mission
Worshipping - Equipping - Discipling - Glorifying
"And they devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching and the fellowship, to the breaking of bread and the prayers." Acts 2:42
We are a gathering of believers committed to honoring and serving the living God through Gospel-centered ministry in the Sutton Community and around the world by:
1) Worshipping God in Spirit and Truth (John 4:24)
2) Equipping believers for ministry (Ephesians 4:12)
3) Discipling all nations (Matthew 28:19)
4) Glorifying God with our lives (1 Corinthians 10:31)
The Call - The Command - The Commission
Based on the teaching of Scripture, the mission of Emmanuel Reformed Church strives to reflect not what we think the Church should be, but what Christ has instructed us that the Church should be. We effort to be a faithful people, submitted fully unto God's will. We are united in this common purpose, that God would be glorified by the gathering of His people. May it be Christ's Church, Christ's way!
- The Call of the Church: To grow in the depths of our faith, equipping and encouraging one another to be faithful witnesses.
- The Command of the Church: To love God and love others.
- The Commission of the Church: To go and make disciples.
What is the Church?
It is a gathering of His covenantal people, bound together, sharing unity in the Spirit through our common faith. As those who belong to God, adopted into His family, we were purchased by the precious blood of Christ. We have been made ambassadors of God's loving kindness, in the ministry of reconciliation. According to the measure of faith that we have been given, together we have been commissioned to go forth and make our Savior known in this ministry.
As the head of the church, the cornerstone upon which the foundation was laid, we strive to be Christ's Church, Christ's way. This means that we do not change the church to appeal to the world, individuals, the culture or the age, but rather we strive to conform to what Christ has laid forth for His Bride in accords with the Bible.
Who is the Church?
God has promised that He has a people, a body of many members, whom He has chosen to rescue from the depths of depravity. Defined by Him and in Him, His people are joined from every tribe, tongue and nation. Whether your were raised in a believing home, or maybe you have never even stepped foot into a Church before, by God's grace, He unites His people from every background to His glory. This is why we say, and we mean, "All are welcome at Emmanuel Reformed Church!" Come as you are. This is the invitation of Christ, "Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest." (Matthew 11:28) Christ has come, not to call the righteous, but the sinner. (Luke 5:32). It doesn't matter where you're from. But it does matter where you are going!
The Church is not comprised of perfect people. Christ alone is our righteousness. There is only one who is perfect, and we come together to learn, proclaim, worship and serve Him! The Church is comprised sinners, those who have a need of being saved by grace alone, through faith alone, in Christ alone, to the glory of God alone, according to Scripture alone. By God's grace, He convicts us of the sinfulness of sin, and the righteousness of Christ, causing us to repent and believe in Him.
We strive to encourage and equip one another, growing together in the knowledge and love of Christ by faith. We do this in our families, raising our children in the covenant, and welcoming others into the covenant of God's grace. We seek to become more like Christ, and less like the world. We are called to put off the old self, and put on the new. We go forth, not making our strength known, but only our weakness and His perfection!
Where is the Church?
Because He first loved us, even while we were yet sinners, we desire to love Him and make His love known to this broken and hurting world. That begins right here with our neighbors in Sutton, NE! Our doors are open to all, and we seek to be active in this vibrant community, sharing the love of Christ. We desire that you too would come to know the love of Christ by faith, be transformed by the renewing of your mind, and grow with us together as part of His family!
We gather every Sunday at 9:30 AM for Sunday School and 10:30 AM for worship service. Visit our contact page for directions and our calendar for upcoming events!
